Ik kies bewust voor een fotografie van de eenvoud en het autobiografische. Ik zal beginnen fotograferen als een omgeving mij uitnodigt, prikkelt. Dat wil niet zeggen dat ik puur op intuïtie en het emotionele of gevoelsmatige drijf. Mijn ervaring leert mij wat mogelijk werkt en wat niet. Er leven allerlei ideeën en projecten in mijn hoofd. Dikwijls in relatie tot andere kunstenaars in andere disciplines. En deze zijn dan ook eerder rationeel en conceptueel. Je zou kunnen zeggen dat ik een (wannabe-) filosoof in beeld ben. Want soms zijn mijn foto’s ook een kritiek en soms ook net geen dwingende vraag naar een zekere eenvoud te gaan. Dat maakt mijn foto’s, op het eerste zicht, bedrieglijk eenvoudig. Tijd speelt een belangrijke rol in mijn werk en de foto’s die ik bij elkaar plaats zijn meermaals op zeer uiteenlopende plaatsen en momenten gerealiseerd. Hoewel ze uitgaan van hetzelfde thema.

In deze tentoonstelling is de mens niet zichtbaar aanwezig. Geen portretten dus. Soms louter als figurant. Resultaten van dezijn werk zijn wel aanwezig. En natuurfoto’s die geen landschapsfoto’s zijn of geen dierenfoto’s.

I consciously choose a photography of simplicity and autobiography. I start photographing when an environment invites me, excites me. This does not mean that I float purely on intuition, emotion or instinct. My experience teaches me what might work and what might not. All sorts of ideas and projects live in my head. Often in relation to other artists in other disciplines. So they tend to be rational and conceptual. You could say I am a (wannabe) philosopher in pictures. Because sometimes my pictures are also a critique, and sometimes they are just not a compelling demand for a certain simplicity. This makes my photographs deceptively simple at first glance. Time plays an important role in my work, and the photos that I put together have been taken on several occasions in very different places and at very different times. Even though they are based on the same theme. 

In this exhibition there are no visible people. So no portraits. Sometimes only as extras. But the results of his work are there. And nature photos that are not landscapes or animals.
